California Quail Is Correct!
Did you know? The California Quail (California's state bird) is a highly social bird and typically travels in small flocks called "coveys." Often, quail families group together in "communal broods" which include at least two females, multiple males, and many chicks. Males associated with families are not always the biological fathers. Sadly thousands of California quail are mercilessly blasted by hunters for "sport" each year and many are never retrieved. Call hint: Some people think the California Quail call sounds as if it is yelling, "Run, Run, Run" or "The man is coming, The man is coming!" « Return to Bird Quiz |
